About the project

ECommerce 2.0 -project is coordinated by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and funded by European Social Fund (React-Eu). Project duration is 1.9.2021 - 30.4.2023

The purpose of eCommerce 2.0 project is to help the SMEs in Satakunta region to overcome the corona crisis with
developing their brick-and-mortar stores and online sales into effective multi-channel retail. The project will also
improve the well-being and competitiveness of companies by increasing know-how and networking.
Due to the pandemic, the situation of companies in the region is exceptional. The projected decline in the number of
specialty stores in retail has accelerated due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, the rapidly increasing use of
digital tools and e-commerce has created new opportunities for SMEs to succeed and access the large national and
international markets.

Many companies in Satakunta region have started online operations and understand the possibilities of a multichannel
retail that combines the physical stores and e-commerce. Due to the lack of expertise and also the lack of
resources and time due to the crisis, the development activities of the online stores have stalled in companies. The
project will accelerate the growth of companies’ online sales and improve the competitiveness of multi-channel
business.

The project will increase the capacity, competence and ability of SMEs and their staff to take advantage of the rapidly
changing operating environment. Companies are provided with training, counseling, guidance and peer learning. In
addition, the vitality, know-how and well-being of companies in the region are greatly enhanced by the so-called
community or peer-activities which will take place in so called eCom clubs.

The project will be implemented in the following phases:
1. Business baseline analysis.
2. Monthly training sessions to increase e-commerce skills.
3. Peer learning in regional networks meetings (eCom clubs).
4. Evaluation of project activities and results.
5. Open distribution of the produced materials for interested parties.
As a short-term result, the project's investments will increase companies' e-commerce expertise and improve their
ability to cope with the change brought about by the Covid-19 crisis and the digitalization of the retail sector. The
sharing of experiences and know-how during networking activities increases the well-being of entrepreneurs and
employees.
